Whether you are a Berkshire women and girl or run activities for females, Get Berkshire Active encourage you to join in the programmes aiming to inspire more women exploring physical activity and finding what suit them better from traditional sports to fun and innovative active Me Time experiences.

Facts and Figures

The latest Active Lives Survey revealed that men (65% or 14.2m) are more likely to be active than women (60% or 13.8m), with a gap of 317,000 between them.

In fact, 40% of women aged 16 and over in the UK are not active enough to get the full health benefits of sport and physical activity, compared to 35% of men. The many reasons for this gender gap can be grouped as practical, personal and social and cultural.

This Girl Can

In October 2018 This Girl Can has launched a new phase of its award-winning campaign that's working to drive down the gender gap in sport. #FitGotReal aims to build on the campaign's achievements so far, as well as specifically reaching out to women of backgrounds and ethnicities who feel left behind by traditional exercise.

Whether you run a class, club or leisure centre, or are just on a one-person mission to help women you know and care about find their way to get active, there's something for you in our This Girl Can Supporter's Toolkit.

Project 500

Project 500 is a campaign to address the imbalance in the number of male to female coaches, creating a more diverse workforce to drive the growth of female participation in sport. It has seen over 500 female coaches recruited, developed and deployed across the seven South East counties.
